”Welcome to the Hunter, Sussan.
“Make sure you pop into a burger joint while you’re here. I know you have been in Muswellbrook and the pulled pork burger at the Royal Hotel is my favourite.
“You’ll find we’re a pretty honest bunch up here, and we like visitors to be the same way.
“I am happy to help if you want to pop into my old workplace at Mount Thorley Warkworth, to tell the blokes on dodgy labour hire agreements that you don’t think they deserve the same pay as the blokes next to them. I’m sure you’ll get good honest feedback.
“Oh and if you’re popping into a small business, make sure you let them know that you voted AGAINST shielding them from the worst of the global energy crisis. If you’d gotten your way, they would have been paying hundreds of dollars more per year on their power bills.
“Also – please make sure everyone you talk to knows about how the Albanese Government reopened GP Access After Hours, after you guys cut funding, have established an Urgent Care Clinic at Cessnock, and most importantly, how the government has made the largest investment in bulk-billing in the history of Medicare with $3.5 billion to triple the bulk-billing incentive.
“A standard bulk-billed consult in Cessnock, for example, will rise by 50 per cent, from $50 to $75 so that will mean more Hunter residents seeing a bulk-billed GP.
“How good’s that? Make sure you tell everyone that this is a game changer for general practice in Newy, the Lake and Hunter.
“As is our Cheaper Medicines policy, already saving people across the region more than $4.5 million on more than 400,000 cheaper prescriptions.
“How good’s that?
“I am also happy to recommend a good winery. Did you know that progress is being made on wine exports too?
“You could pop into one of our brilliant childcare centres and talk with some parents and let the, know we’ve made it so much cheaper – something you guys never did in ten years in Government.
“We can rig up a visit to Cessnock, Singleton or Muswellbrook TAFE and see how we’re getting more people into training through our gangbusters Fee-Free TAFE program.
“So sing out if you need any help finding your way around.
