$1.5 MILLION FOR BETTER ACTIVE TRANSPORT IN THE HUNTER ELECTORATE
Cooranbong locals will have more opportunities to walk, cycle and actively move through their community thanks to new funding from the Federal Government.
$1,563,202 will go towards Lake Macquarie City Council to design and construct 480m of shared path between the Cooranbong Town Common and Kurnell Street
This will link the Cooranbong Growth Area and the Watagan Park residential estate with the Town Common (sports fields and playground), Cooranbong Public School and Avondale University.
This is one of 10 projects that will share in $16 million to build new or upgrade existing bicycle and walking paths across New South Wales.
The Government is making our cities and regions even better places to live, building social infrastructure, connecting place, and designing healthier, more liveable towns.
Our new Active Transport Program is one part of this, providing safe and accessible transport options that are good for the planet and good for ourselves.
This program supports the Government’s commitment to invest in infrastructure planning, design and construction that improves safety outcomes for vulnerable road users under the National Road and Safety Strategy 2021-2030.
