Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives

The Australian Government is dedicating $9.8 million to support multicultural community-led grassroots organisations through the Multicultural Grassroots Initiative (MGI) open-competitive grant opportunity.

The MGI is the first grant round to open under the Government’s Modernised Multicultural Grants Program (MMGP) and will provide up to $4.8 million (GST exclusive) of funding over 2 financial years from 2024–25 to 2025–26.

Organisations will be able to apply for grants of up to $100,000 over 2 years from 2024-25 for:

• Multicultural celebrations, such as festivals and events (limited to a maximum funding amount of $30,000 over 2 years)
• Multicultural amenities, such as building upgrades, furnishings or equipment
• Intercultural connections, such as intercultural sports programs or art projects

The round is scheduled to be open for applications from 8 October to 4 November 2024.
