Walk for Cindy – Supporting Calvary Mater’s Oncology Ward 5B

Local legend Noel Fishburn has lived in Lake Macquarie his whole life, 73 years of giving back to his community. Now, he’s doing something truly special in honour of his late partner, Cindy.

After losing Cindy to cancer, Noel made her a promise that he’d walk to raise money for Ward 5B Oncology at Calvary Mater Newcastle, the ward that cared for her during her fight with the disease.

Noel’s keeping that promise. On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November, he’ll set off from Calvary Mater Hospital and walk all the way to Wangi Bowling Club, finishing around 2 pm Sunday.

It’s a massive effort, but Noel’s doing it with love and the hope that the money raised will help other families facing the toughest battles of their lives.

He says he’s been overwhelmed by the support from his small Lake Macquarie community and now he’s inviting the rest of us to get behind him too.
